This week’s retail banking news includes Doha Bank and CUP’s agreement, Al Rajhi Bank’s new director of retail banking, and KBC Bank’s first retail branch in Ireland.

Doha Bank and CUP sign retail agreement
Doha Bank has established a partnership with China UnionPay (CUP) covering ATM and POS transactions. According to the agreement, Doha Bank will conduct cash withdrawals and balance inquiries for any card issued on behalf of CUP through the bank’s network of ATMs. CUP cardholders can also perform payments through the bank’s POS terminals to purchase goods and services at retail outlets.  

Al Rajhi Bank appoints director of retail banking
Al Rajhi Bank has names Mohd Khalil Alkhushairi as director of retail banking. Prior to joining Al Rajhi Bank, Mohd Khalil was the CEO of ABC Banking Corporation and has 20 years of knowledge and experience in banking and finance.

Belgian bank opens first retail branch in Ireland
Belgium’s KBC Bank has opened its first retail bank in Dublin, Ireland. The bank has been operating in the Irish mortgage and deposit market already for the past few years. It further plans to invest in new retail locations in a few Irish cities in the coming years.
