Richard Braddock, Executive Chairman of Mozido discusses the organisation’s business model, reaching the unbanked segment, as well as innovation and leadership in the current marketplace. September 27, 2012 | Editorial1. Mozido’s business model Foo Boon Ping (FBP): Please describe Mozido’s operating model and value proposition. What is it about Mozido that attracted you? Richard Braddock (RB): Mozido is unique in that it provides an integrated platform of cloud-based, white-labelled, mobile payments, shopping and marketing solutions. We provide much more than a mobile wallet – which differentiates us from many of the other players in the market. We have a comprehensive portfolio of solutions that meets the mobile commerce needs of consumers, small businesses and global corporate brands. Our solutions are complemented by real-time, customer behaviour analytics. This data enables our customers – companies in retail, financial services, consumer-packaged goods and telecommunications, to meet the needs of both banked and unbanked consumers. We allow our customers to develop smart offerings such as relevant promotions, loyalty programs, coupons that can be tailored to the individual consumer. Also unique to the market is the fact that our platform is highly interoperable. Our platform works with virtually all mobile carriers or devices, including smartphones, tablets, voice IVR and even television. We are both NFC and non-NFC enabled. We support our clients’ multichannel needs, from mobile to the internet. To lead Mozido is the biggest opportunity I have ever had, and we are at the forefront of a mobile commerce revolution. I would rather lead the revolution, than be a spectator. The reason I joined Mozido is because the firm has a very enlightened, and expansive, view of where the mobile payment space is headed. The statistics are truly impressive. In 2011, there were 6 billion mobile phones in the world, almost 3 times higher than the number of internet users.
