Built its own suite of 450+ APIs to transition to micro-services based IT architecture.

Emirates NBD hand-built its own suite of 450+ APIs to transition to a micro-services based IT architecture, aligned with technology best practices. This has not only revolutionized the bank’s architecture to rapidly increase the speed and quality of engineering, but has also enabled collaboration with external partners, FinTechs and other technology partners including Whatsapp banking as a regional first.

Focused on enhancing the bank’s APIs for better resilience, usability and documentation

The bank shifted their focus from developing more API's and more into enhancing the existing ones by providing better resilience, usability and documentation. The Bank used their Sahab Cloud platform to host and run the API's. The API gateway is 3 Scale for Authentication and Authorization. For logging and monitoring, the bank uses the ELK stack. All of which are open source projects that it leverages.

Over the past year, the bank recorded a 30% increase in customer transactions

Emirates NBD was able to deliver changes and enhancement for end customers faster than previously.
