To stay ahead of the competition, banks will need to further differentiate and focus on payment accuracy, real-time payment advice and treatment of cancellations and recalls for currency clearing. August 23, 2012 | Levina LimStrong clientele relationship rooted in mutual assistance is an important element that contributes to the longevity of any business bond, and is increasingly important in the world of international transaction banking – where transaction volumes range from thousands to the millions in a single day, and the credibility and reliability of the global transaction banking provider paramount. With this is mind, The Asian Banker conducted a comprehensive survey on international transaction banking providers’ client relationships with domestic financial institutions (FIs), voted and commended upon by domestic banks in Asia. A regional and country level assessment with regard to the strength of their businesses, satisfaction scores and reasons for selection has been collated. It is useful as a tool for internal benchmarking by international transaction banks to gauge the success of their engagement with the local FI community. 25 banks (21 first-and second-tier domestic banks and four international transaction banks) were surveyed in an in-depth questionnaire covering the following areas: - Cash management Table 1. List of banks covered in the survey Top transaction banks in Asia BNY Mellon, Standard Chartered Bank, Deutsche Bank and Citibank were found to be the four topmost international transaction banks used by domestic Asian FIs. Each was cited by 86% of domestic FIs as their international partner bank. These international banks were voted for providing good local customer service, possessing a global support network as well as their competitive and flexible pricing.
