Wee Ee Cheong and United Overseas Bank recognised as Best CEO and Best Managed Bank in Singapore

Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and CEO of United Overseas Bank fortified the bank’s position as the leading consumer and SME bank in Southeast Asia and led the bank’s largest merger and acquisition in a decade. It covered Citi’s retail business in the four key Southeast Asian markets. This strategic decision solidifies the bank as a dominant player in the region.

UOB launched its flagship digital bank, to defend its customer base in core markets, while growing its franchise in ASEAN. 

UOB also provides SME customers various opportunities, assistance and partnerships. The bank has a strong franchise of 500 offices connecting businesses to the region and offers dedicated foreign direct investment advisory with 10 centres that provide integrated market entry solutions. It has enabled 3,500 companies in their cross-border expansion into Asia, and in 2020 alone facilitated $39 billion worth of regional business flows.

Wee has also put great emphasis on human capital development for a sustainable and digital future.

The CEO Leadership Achievement for the Singapore Award goes to Deputy Chairman and CEO of United Overseas Bank, Wee Ee Cheong. Under his leadership, United Overseas Bank is recognised as the Best Managed Bank in Singapore.
