StanChart appoints new consumer, private and business banking head in Singapore

Standard Chartered Bank announced the appointment of Jessie Li as head of consumer, private and business banking (CPBB), Singapore.

Based in Singapore, she will report to Samir Subberwal, head of CPBB, Asia, and Patrick Lee, Cluster CEO, Singapore and ASEAN markets. Li  will also join the bank’s Singapore country management team. This appointment will be effective 1 April 2022.

Li is a seasoned retail banking professional with 30 years of experience covering assets, liabilities, credit cards, wealth management, risk and distribution management. She started her career as a management associate with Citibank, before joining Standard Chartered Bank Hong Kong from 1993 to 2000. Following that, Li held a number of senior positions in HSBC, AIG and AIA, and was also the deputy chief executive and head of retail banking and wealth management at Hang Seng Bank (China) Limited.

Li re-joined the bank in 2019 as head of CPBB, China, and deputy chief executive, Standard Chartered Bank China. Under her leadership, the bank’s CPBB business in China witnessed strong income momentum to achieve a historic performance in 2020 and 2021. Li also led the continuous uplift of productivity in China through 2020 and 2021, grew the affluent client base and continued to monetise the bank’s digital capabilities.

As head of CPBB, Singapore, Li will be responsible for executing the strategy and building the business in Singapore, with a focus on accelerating digital, driving wealth management and affluent client growth, ramping up international banking, and strengthening client experience.
