New York – Nov 2, 2026 - Societe Generale today announced that its Prime Services & Clearing division completed a transaction involving the acceptance of $10 million in tokenised US Treasuries as eligible collateral on the Canton Network (“Canton”), using assets tokenised as part of the soft launch of the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation’s (DTCC) Tokenisation Service. The transaction represents an important step in the Bank’s roadmap to connect tokenised securities with established institutional collateral and financing processes. The transaction demonstrated that tokenised representations of US Treasuries can be transferred onchain and reflected within Societe Generale’s existing back-office and collateral systems, while operating within the Bank’s governance, risk and control framework. This achievement builds on Societe Generale’s work on Canton over the past year. Following its first US tokenised bond issuance on Canton in November 2025, the Bank announced in May 2026 that it had joined the network as a Super Validator. Through these initiatives, Societe Generale is contributing to the progressive development of institutional workflows across tokenised assets, collateral, financing and settlement. “This transaction moves tokenisation beyond issuance and begins to connect tokenised securities with the financing markets where clients can derive tangible value. We are building on this foundation to progressively develop solutions that could give clients greater flexibility in mobilising collateral and accessing financing. By combining Societe Generale’s expertise in prime brokerage, financing and risk management with the Group’s broader digital asset capabilities, our ambition is to contribute to the development of a robust institutional market for tokenised assets,” said Salim Nemouchi, Global Head of Prime Services at Societe Generale. “Tokenising assets is only the first step. The real transformation comes when assets can be used across financial markets for a range of transactions. By accepting tokenised Treasuries as collateral, Societe Generale is helping bring core institutional financing activities onchain. As more institutions connect these workflows on Canton, they’re laying the foundation for capital to move continuously across markets, institutions and borders,” said Yuval Rooz, CEO and Co-Founder of Digital Asset, creator of Canton Network. Building on this initial capability, Societe Generale intends to progressively develop support for recurring collateral movements and evaluate additional eligible tokenised securities. Over time, the bank also plans to explore onchain financing solutions, including agency and principal repo models. These developments remain subject to the relevant internal approvals, regulatory requirements and continued development of the supporting operational and control framework. This work complements the MiCAR-compliant euro and U.S. dollar stablecoins deployments made on Canton by Societe Generale-FORGE, the digital asset subsidiary of Societe Generale Group. Together, they support the long-term objective of creating an integrated institutional ecosystem where tokenised assets financing and settlement can interact seamlessly.
