SINGAPORE, 5 March 2026 – ShopeePay, a digital payment and financial services provider in Southeast Asia and Brazil, today announced its integration with Alipay+, Ant International’s unified wallet gateway, starting with users in Singapore. Marking ShopeePay’s first cross-border payments offering, Singaporeans will be able to progressively scan over 150 million merchant QR codes across more than 100 markets, and pay instantly through ShopeePay – without the need for physical cash or currency exchange. The cross-border QR payment feature is currently available in 28 countries and regions, with additional markets set to be progressively rolled out in the coming months, giving Singapore users greater payment flexibility when travelling overseas. The partnership will also expand to other regional ShopeePay users. Through this partnership, ShopeePay users will gain access to the Alipay+ global ecosystem, including national payment systems like DuitNow in Malaysia and ZeroPay in South Korea, and other local acquiring partners, enabling them to pay seamlessly at participating in-store merchants while continuing to enjoy transparent exchange rates and cashback rewards. This launch comes amid a strong regional focus on enhancing cross-border QR payment connectivity while unlocking new growth avenues for businesses. In Singapore, the use of digital wallets for offline payments continues to rise steadily, with in-store digital wallet transactions projected to account for 44% of total transaction value by 2030. This growing shift underscores how cross-border QR payment solutions support consumers’ preference for fast, convenient, and secure cashless experiences — whether at home or overseas. “QR payments have become a trusted and integral part of everyday life in Singapore, but that experience has not always travelled well across borders,” said Benjamin Tan, Head of ShopeePay, Singapore. “When overseas QR acceptance is fragmented, consumers often fall back on cards that may not be widely accepted by smaller merchants and can come with unclear foreign exchange costs. By enabling cross-border QR payments, we are closing that gap: bringing the simplicity, transparency, and accessibility users value at home to their journeys abroad. This is a meaningful step in building more connected, inclusive digital payment ecosystems that empower people to transact with confidence, wherever they are.” “We’re proud to bring cross-border payment capabilities to ShopeePay, extending their reach beyond local payments, and giving Singaporeans more choices when travelling abroad,” said Pan Yan, Head of Strategic Partnership Office for Alipay+, Ant International. “We will also continue to support ShopeePay users across Southeast Asia to enjoy this convenient and seamless feature. By bringing together more users and merchants through the Alipay+ ecosystem, we can collectively build a more connected, inclusive digital economy.” Re-disseminated by The Asian Banker
