RHB has appointed Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar as managing director of group wholesale banking

RHB Banking Group has appointed Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar as managing director of group wholesale banking.

Taufik will be succeeding Mohd Rashid Mohamad who was appointed group managing director and group chief executive officer on April 1.

Taufik's appointment was one of the banking group's several key internal movements and appointments within its senior management team to further strengthen the senior leadership bench.

Mohd Rashid said the movement and expansion of roles within the existing senior management team takes effect from May 16, 2022. 

Succeeding Taufik as managing director of group international business is Wendy Ting, who is currently the head of group corporate banking. 

Pursuant to the reorganisation, Ting has been appointed as managing director of group international business and group corporate banking. 

In addition to her existing role in managing the group's corporate banking portfolio, she will also oversee and drive the group's regional business and operations, which includes Singapore, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos and Brunei. 

RHB has also appointed Dr Siew Chan Cheong as group chief strategy and innovation officer, an expansion to his previous role of group chief strategy officer. 

The group said the appointment of Siew was in line with its aim to further drive innovation and ensure that digitalisation is being embedded in every aspect of the group's business, which included driving the operationalisation of its upcoming digital bank in partnership with Boost.

Meanwhile, RHB said the integration of environment, social and governance considerations within RHB's business and decision-making process also continues to be a top strategic priority for the group moving forward. 

Therefore, as part of the enhancement to its sustainability governance structure which acts as a catalyst towards achieving sustainability aspirations under its five-year (2022-2026) sustainability strategy, RHB has also expanded the role of Norazzah Sulaiman with her appointment as the group chief sustainability and communications officer.
