PeraSure expands loan access for 9.9 million gig workers under updated SEC ceiling

Manila, Philippines, 14 October 2026 – Traditional credit requirements have long excluded a large share of the Philippine workforce. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, about 9.9 million Filipinos, or roughly 22% of the country's 44 million employed workers, work in gig or informal roles. For workers who rely on freelance projects, platform work, small businesses, or other non-traditional arrangements, standard credit assessments anchored on regular payslips and employer-issued documents remain a barrier to borrowing.

Against this shifting employment landscape, PeraSure, a digital lending app operated by Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)-registered Sulit Lending Corporation, officially launched in the Philippines to make credit more accessible to workers with diverse income streams.

"Many hardworking Filipinos earn a living outside a regular payroll, yet lending has long been built around payslips," PeraSure noted. "We want borrowers to see exactly what they will pay, within the SEC's limits, before they confirm a loan."

To simplify the borrowing experience, PeraSure lets eligible users apply with a government-issued ID and basic employment or income information, bypassing traditional consumer lending paperwork. Borrowers can review a full rate breakdown, applicable fees, and total repayment amounts upfront before confirming their loan, ensuring no hidden charges.

PeraSure's launch also arrives as tightened regulatory ceilings take effect across the Philippine lending sector. Under SEC Memorandum Circular No. 14, Series of 2025, effective April 1, 2026, combined interest and fees on qualifying small loans are capped at 12% per month, down from 15% per month. PeraSure operates well below this ceiling, charging a daily interest rate as low as 0.10%. The platform offers loan amounts of up to ₱50,000, with flexible repayment terms ranging from 30 to 180 days based on individual credit evaluations.

Instead of requiring users to reapply and requalify for every transaction, PeraSure is built around a revolving credit relationship. Eligible borrowers can draw on an approved credit line over time, letting their limit grow as their repayment record builds, rather than starting from zero with each new loan.

Addressing the everyday cash-flow needs of salaried employees, gig workers, and micro-entrepreneurs alike, PeraSure reflects a broader structural shift in the Philippine workforce toward more varied and flexible income sources.

The PeraSure app is now available for download on Google Play.
