NETS launches NETS SoftPOS for faster, cheaper payments

5 min read

Network for Electronic Transfers (NETS), one of Singapore's leading payment services groups, has launched NETS SoftPOS, a terminal-less payment solution for swifter, seamless and more cost-efficient payment transactions.

Merchants can now download the NETS SoftPOS app from the Google Play Store and use their Android smart devices as payment terminals to accept contactless payments. With NETS SoftPOS, merchants will be able to accept contactless transactions from card, QR and mobile payment. Card payments include NETS ATM/debit card, NETS prepaid card and major international card schemes whilst QR payments can be accepted from DBS, OCBC and UOB banking apps, as well as overseas banking and wallet apps from China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

NETS SoftPOS reduces multiple barriers to entry for merchants looking to cater to the increasing demand for contactless payment solutions from consumers. Merchants do not need to worry about additional terminals or hardware to integrate into their existing workflows, all while allowing them to offer on-the-go payment acceptance securely.

Lawrence Chan, group CEO at NETS, said: "With NETS SoftPOS, we are empowering merchants with a cost-efficient payment solution to accept payments anytime and anywhere at no incremental cost. By leveraging their existing smart devices – including mobile and tablets – we are providing merchants with payment options while maintaining high-security standards for contactless transactions. We are excited to offer this innovative solution as part of our commitment to value-add to our merchants.”

NETS SoftPOS is currently compatible with most Android-based devices including single or dual-screen POS hardware and tablets should merchants prefer not to use their personal mobile devices. To date, some of NETS merchants spanning a wide variety of industries including food and beverage and retail are already onboard the pilot scheme.
