5 min read

HSBC announced the appointment of Gilbert Ng as head of global banking in Singapore, effective 2 May 2024.

Ng succeeds Priya Kini who has taken on a new role early this year as head of commercial banking, Singapore. Prior to joining HSBC, Ng was head of corporate banking, Singapore, at Citigroup.

With over 17 years at Citigroup, he has extensive corporate finance and risk management experience as well as a strong client network that spans across local large corporates, public sector, financial institutions, and multinationals in Singapore.

Wong Kee Joo, CEO, HSBC Singapore said: “Gilbert’s track record in building a resilient client coverage business will further accelerate our growth in Singapore. As more global businesses look to set up their regional headquarters and treasury centres in Singapore to facilitate their growth in the region, it is critical that we can tap on his deep market knowledge to support our clients as they scale up.”

Christina Ma, head of global banking, Asia Pacific at HSBC, added: “Gilbert joins the global banking team at a pivotal time. In the past year, we have maintained a strong business in Singapore supporting our clients’ growth ambitions in Asia. We are confident that under his leadership, we will be able to capture more opportunities and continue to drive strategic client relationships.”
