Citi Commercial Bank, which serves emerging and mid-corporates, has made key appointments in ASEAN – a significant region for growth for the business in Asia Pacific.

Raymond Lim has been appointed to a newly created role as head of corporate finance for ASEAN, effective 1 June 2023. In his new role, Lim supports fast-growing companies in ASEAN to further their expansion opportunities and ambitions by facilitating access to financing needs. He reports to Lin Hsiu-Yi, head of Citi Commercial Bank for ASEAN and Singapore.

He is responsible for corporate financing transactions in ASEAN and ensuring senior coverage of Citi’s commercial banking clients with potential to tap into Citi’s broader institutional franchise capabilities, including in capital markets. Lim will partner closely with Citi’s institutional and wealth franchises, leveraging the power of Citi, to provide holistic solutions for companies as well as their owners and identify new business opportunities in ASEAN.

Lim is relocating home to Singapore from Malaysia, where he was most recently the country head of Citi Commercial Bank. He has been with Citi since 2007 and joined as a banker in the mid-corporate segment. He has since taken on roles within the business with increasing responsibility, including as head of Citi Commercial Bank in Vietnam. Lim is credited with a strong track record of delivering growth and building strong client relationships.

Shawn Khong Hsiu-Mun has been named country head of Citi Commercial Bank Malaysia, effective 1 July 2023, and will be based in Kuala Lumpur. He will report to Lin Hsiu-Yi and Vikram Singh, Citi country officer for Malaysia. As head of the business in Malaysia, he will oversee Citi Commercial Bank’s strategy in the market, including the growth of the business in Malaysia.

He is currently the country head of Citi Commercial Bank Vietnam, a role he took on in 2019, and concurrently, branch director for Citibank Hanoi branch. He first joined Citi Singapore as a management associate in 2000 before embarking on his first overseas assignment to Hong Kong in 2004.

With over 23 years of banking experience, he has held diverse leadership roles in relationship management, business development and business head roles across Citi’s commercial banking business, consumer banking business and financial institutions business in Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam. Across these roles, he has consistently delivered growth with a focus on client excellence and building strong teams.

Commenting on the appointments, Hsiu-Yi said, “ASEAN is a centre of commercial activity, including in technology and e-commerce, and is home to new and emerging businesses that are expanding at pace. Our recent appointments in ASEAN underpin the importance of this region to Citi’s commercial banking business and our efforts to deepen our capabilities to serve our clients. With Lim and Mun’s leadership, I am confident that we will continue to reach new successes in their respective areas of work.”

Citi Commercial Bank serves clients in 11 markets in Asia Pacific, including five in ASEAN – Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
