CIMB appoints Oliver Crespin as chief fintech officer

5 min read

Malaysian bank CIMB has announced the appointment of a Chief Fintech Officer for its newly set-up unit, CIMB Fintech, a new standalone unit aimed at actively exploring innovative banking solutions.

Olivier Crespin, who until recently was Group Head Digital Bank at DBS in Singapore, is scheduled to begin his new role with CIMB FinTech in June 2017, subject to regulatory approvals, the bank said on their website. Crespin stepped down from his DBS role earlier this year as finews.asia reported at the time. He was quoted as saying he was leaving to pursue a new role in another organisation outside Singapore.

He joined DBS in July 2010 as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer for DBS Wealth Management and was appointed Group Head Digital Bank at DBS in March 2014.  Prior to joining DBS, Crespin was Citibank’s Global Head of operations for the Private Bank.

"I am thrilled to welcome Olivier to the CIMB family, we are prepared to invest significantly in fintech propositions that will add value and enhance customer experience for our 12 million customers across the region and I'm confident that Olivier, with his vast experience in this space, will help us do just that." said Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Aziz, Group Chief Executive, CIMB Group.
