BIDV wins Best Trade Finance for digital innovation and sector-focused strategy

BIDV receives recognition for its leadership in digital trade services, ESG-linked lending, and sector- targeted solutions amid a shifting global trade landscape.

  • BIDV expands end-to-end trade and supply chain finance via digital platforms
  • Launches sustainability-linked screening through Environmental and Social Management System
  • Supports over 50 supply chains and SCF balances grow over 60% year-on-year

Bangkok, 24 July 2025—The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) is named Vietnam’s Best Trade Finance and Supply Chain Finance Bank at the 2025 TAB Global Transaction Finance Awards, recognising its ability to respond to evolving global trade conditions through focused digital and sustainability strategies.

Amid tighter global financing and supply chain disruptions, BIDV introduced integrated initiatives including reduced fees, preferential exchange rates and tailored credit packages for foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and supply chain operators. BIDV partnered with seaports and warehouses to accept goods as collateral and collaborated with logistics firms to offer bundled services—combining trade finance, port and warehouse fee concessions, and competitive credit terms for import-export customers.

The bank strengthened its digital backbone through enhancements to its BIDV iBank and BIDV supply chain finance (SCF) platforms to provide online services such as electronic letters of credit, supplier finance and factoring. These are being integrated into “TradeFlat”, a new digital trade finance ecosystem that consolidates services from banks, shipping firms, customs, insurance and warehousing into one digital platform. BIDV also piloted a sustainability-linked trade screening tool through its Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) across more than 50 active supply chains.

The impact is evident. Supply chain finance balances grew by over 60% in the past year. Trade finance customer numbers increased by almost 12%. New mandates in areas such as letter of credit (LC) discounting and supply chain programmes in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) added further momentum. Despite strong growth, the customer retention rate declined from over 85% to 72.2%, highlighting the need to maintain service quality. With continued investment in innovation and sustainability, BIDV reinforces its leadership in shaping Vietnam’s trade finance infrastructure.
