SWIFT to tighten financial innovation collaboration through Innotribe challenge
Innotribe Startup Challenge 2014 serves as platform for up and coming financial tech startups to showcase new, cutting edge products and services. February 07, 2014 | Magessan RajEver since its launch in 2009, the Innotribe Startup Challenge, a SWIFT initiative designed to facilitate greater collaborative innovation between up and coming tech entrepreneurs and financial institutions, has seen over $350 million in investments, purchase and acquisition transactions for startups promising to reinvigorate the industry through introduction of cutting edge products and services. Innotribe Startup Challenge 2014 is no different, as this year’s challenge aims to further develop promising financial technology and services by bringing tech industry influencers, innovators and startups under one roof. A year-round programme, Innotribe Startup Challenge 2014 will feature three invitation-only regional showcases in Europe, Asia and US - London (May 1st 2014), Singapore (May 15th 2014) and New York (June 5th 2014) - as competitors vie to showcase their new concepts and products that enable financial institutions to enhance existing services and better differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive market. The programme is open to both start-ups and growth-stage companies established within the last three years and delivering technology-based innovations in relevant financial technology fields. To be eligible participants, startups must have a working prototype and less than $1 million in revenue or investment, whilst growth-stage companies must introduce innovations that have not yet been publically announced. This year’s challenge is expected to attract hundreds of participants from around the world, with successful applicants to be announced in April 2014. Three start-ups and two growth-stage innovators will be selected as finalists at each event, with the challenge ultimately culminating at Sibos 2014, to be held in Boston on October 1st, where finalists will then showcase their innovations to an audience of venture capitalists, angel investors and key industry professionals.
