Dr. John Millar is currently the chief strategic development officer of Ananda Development Public Company Limited, the largest condominium developer in Thailand and the first UrbanTech-dedicated developer that pioneered the incorporation of innovative technology into its developments. In 2017, Dr. Millar led the repositioning of Ananda as the first UrbanTech company in Thailand and currently heads its innovation strategy and investment operations. He has helped Ananda incorporate Life-as-a-Service features such as smart homes, smart-living mobile applications, ridesharing and big data analytics into the group’s projects, significantly enhancing occupant experience through technology. He is the head of Exponential Social Enterprise, supported by Ananda, Siam Commercial Bank, TRUE and Muang Thai Insurance, where he was tasked to bring leading edge thinkers to South East Asia via Singularity University and recently held the first Singularity University Summit in SE Asia in Bangkok. Dr. Millar advises the Royal Thai Government for matters related to regulatory changes that impact innovation. He has also sat on the Foundation for Science and Technology Committee to advise the House of Lords on innovation policy in the UK. Dr. Millar’s previously founded a company that was funded by the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA) to support IP commercialisation across the UK among numerous other projects. A UK national, Dr. Millar has 19 years of experience in entrepreneurship, investments and real estate, prior to joining Ananda Development in 2012.

Dr Jumpot Phuritatkul is chief technology officer (CTO) of True Digital Park, and head of Technology Development and Innovation Strategy. He has accumulated more than 20 years of experience in technology, R&D, product, business and strategy development for innovative services and solutions in the public and private ICT sectors, such as Huawei Enterprise (Thailand), Ericsson (Thailand), Cisco Systems (Thailand), Detecon Asia-Pacific, France Telecom R&D Japan, National Institute of Informatics, National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, and National Electronics and Computer Technology Center.

With extensive experience in financial industry and in Thailand’s startup community, Sam Tanskul leads Krungsri Finnovate Co., Ltd., the latest subsidiary of Krungsri, with a focus on technological innovation investment in Thailand and the rest of ASEAN. He has joined Thailand’s startup ecosystem since 2014, as one of the core members behind the success of ‘Krungsri Uni Startup’ – a platform for the young, creative generation to develop financial mobile applications in pursuit of their aspiration to be professional startups – and ‘Krungsri Rise’, the first fintech corporate accelerator in Thailand. Prior to his current role at Krungsri Finnovate, Sam has over 15 years of experience in Credit Card business with several leading organizations including UOB, GE Capital and Krungsri Consumer, in the area of product management and innovation.

Piyasak Ukritnukun is the managing director of Ngern Tid Lor. He has efficient experience in managing micro finance business. Currently, Piyasak is leading more than 5,000 employees through over 850 branches nationwide to deliver fair, transparent and convenient financial service to the underbanked Thais. Under his leadership, Ngern Tid Lor has strong growth in term of company scale, number of employee and number of portfolio. Prior to taking on the role of Managing Director, Piyasak served as chief marketing officer (CMO), SVP, and head of marketing and business development, responsible for turning the local “Srisawad Ngern Tid Lor” name into a nationally recognized household brand with over ninety-five percent brand awareness. He was also instrumental in helping the company undergo the transformation from an informal moneylender into a proper financial institution with responsible lending practices. Previously, Piyasak worked as a regional AVP for AIG Consumer Finance Group’s Asia Pacific M&A team and as an associate consultant for Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

Bernard Tso currently serves as executive vice president of Marketing, Business Development and Information Technology at Ngern Tid Lor. He has more than 20 years’ experience in retail finance business, including product development, marketing communication, risk management, IT and process re-engineering. Over the past 8 years, Bernard played a crucial role in transforming Ngern Tid Lor from a local finance company to a market leader in financing for the underbanked, by utilizing multi-disciplinary experience in driving innovations. As a marketing and business development lead, Bernard is leading in product developments, covering product feature design, process setup, system development, policy setting and rolls out while also managing marketing communication to achieve product and corporate objectives. As IT lead, he creates platforms and introduces technologies into system architecture to enable business develop and expanse rapidly. Prior to Krungsri Group, he served as the vice president of risk management in GE Money, and the vice president of GE Capital Thailand.

Paul Ark spent the first half of his career as an investment banker, working on IPOs, acquisitions, and private equity deals for global banks Deutsche Bank and Citigroup in Asia and New York, as well as boutique advisories Tonson Capital and Blackwood Ventures in Southeast Asia. He then transitioned to the world of retail by joining Central Retail, working on regional joint ventures and working on the company’s market entry into China and other Asian markets. He spent several years facilitating Apple Retail’s market entry into Asian markets, opening up flagship stores in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia, before joining Microsoft and advising on their China retail market entry strategy. Paul is also an active startup mentor and angel investor, having made investments in early stage companies in the United States, China, and Thailand, and currently manages the FinTech venture capital fund for Siam Commercial Bank’s Digital Ventures group.

Matt Dooley, a well respected authority on banking innovation will be the chairman of this tour. He is the founder and director of Connected Thinking, providing digital strategy, marketing, and training to banks. Dooley is a member of the Next Bank team with over 20 years international experience driving change at two of the world’s leading banks, across three continents. He was global head of Internet strategy and head of digital experience for the global commercial banking division in HSBC. He pioneered HSBC’s global Internet design standards as a result of establishing the first Internet banking platform back in 2000. Dooley stays abreast of the latest trends in mobile and virtual technology as well as social media and is instrumental in helping participants develop their own personal disciplines in handling these areas.

Boon Ping manages The Asian Banker publication business and engages practitioners, customers, partners and the media on critical issues that impact the industry. He has more than 19 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry, specializing in strategic branding, marketing communications and consumer insight. Prior to The Asian Banker, he was at United Overseas Bank (UOB), covering Singapore and key markets in the region, such as China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

David Gyori is a globally renowned FinTech consultant, trainer, author and keynote speaker. He is CEO of Banking Reports Ltd London, providing top quality ‘FinTech Training for Bankers’ all over the world. In addition, Gyori is founding member of the World FinTech Association as well as member of the panel of judges of the European FinTech Awards. He is co-author of ‘The Fintech Book’, published in 2016, quickly becoming a global category best-seller. Gyori is faculty member of the Retail Banking Academy in London, one of the most prestigious banker-training facilities globally. He serves on the advisory board of multiple FinTech companies in the United Kingdom.
