Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA)
Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA) is a voluntary professional organization of credit institutions in Vietnam. The organisation protects legitimate rights and interests of the members and acts as a link between the members and the government agencies. It aims at stable, effective, prudential, and healthy development of the credit institutions of Vietnam and contributes to the implementation of the monetary policies for socio-economic development. VNBA currently has 53 members, including 39 commercial banks, 2 joint-venture banks, and 11 finance companies. VNBA is a member of ASEAN Bankers Association (ABA) and has official representatives in all the ABA Permanent Committees. VNBA has so far established relation of cooperation with more than 30 banks associations of including ASEAN, China, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, Sweden, Poland, Europe, the United States, and Canada. VNBA is a full member of the Asian Bankers Association and a national representative of the APEC Financiers Group, an organization under the annual APEC Finance Ministers Conference.
JSC Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam
JSC Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam, formerly known as Bank for Foreign trade of Vietnam, was established on 01/04/1963 from the Foreign Exchange Bureau (of the State Bank of Vietnam).
Being the first state commercial bank chosen for pilot privatization by the Government, Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam officially came into operation on 02/06/2008 after the successful implementation of the equitization plan through initial public offering (IPO). On 30/06/2009 Vietcombank (ticker symbol: VCB) was officially listed on Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange.
During its 58 years of growth and development, Vietcombank has contributed significantly to the stability and growth of national economy, upholding the role of a major foreign trade bank in facilitating efficient domestic economic growth as well as influencing considerably on regional and global financial community.
Originated as a specialized bank for foreign trade, Vietcombank nowadays has become a multiple sector bank, providing customers with a wide range of leading financial services in international trade; traditional services such as capital trading, capital mobilization, credit, project financing…etc., and modern banking segment such as forex trading and derivatives, card services, e-banking and so on.
With its modern banking technology and infrastructure and the successful transformation of the core banking system (Core Banking) in the early 2020, Vietcombank has many advantages of applying advanced technology into the automatic banking system, products development, e-banking services based on its high technology foundation. The digital transaction platforms with a variety of digital banking services such as: VCB Digibank, VCB Pay, VCB – [email protected], VCB CashUp, etc. have always attracted a great deal of customers by its convenience, promptness, safety, efficiency, helping to create the habit of non-cash payments amongst the mass.
After more than a half-century operating in the market, Vietcombank, one of the biggest commercial banks in Vietnam, currently has approximately 600 branches/transaction offices/representative offices/Affiliates both in Vietnam and abroad including: Head Office in Hanoi; 116 Branches; 474 transaction offices; 04 subsidiaries in Vietnam (VCBL, VCBS, VCBR and VCB Tower); 03 overseas subsidiaries (Vinafico Hongkong Company, VCB Money Inc., a subsidiary bank in Laos); 01 representative office in Ho Chi Minh City; 01 representative office in Singapore, 01 representative office in the USA; 03 administrative units (Training and Human Resource College; 01 Cash Processcing Center in Hanoi, and 01 Cash Processing Center in HCMC and 03 joint ventures. In terms of human resources, Vietcombank is currently having over 20,000 employees.
