The winning bank achieved sound financial performance in 2021, backed by the concept of “New Finance” that integrates inclusiveness, technology and high-quality services. The bank posted a retail revenue of $55.2 billion (RMB 350.3 billion), up 7% year-on-year (YoY). Total profit amounted to $33.8 billion (RMB 214.7 billion), contributing to 56.74% of the bank’s total profit. The bank commanded a leading return on equity (ROE) of 15.1% in China. It simplified services for customers through the use of artificial intelligence, biometrics, and big data.  By the end of 2021, the number of its personal mobile banking users reached 417 million, up by 7.52% annually, with active users reaching 149 million monthly. Total transaction volume on its mobile channel increased by 20%. 

Following China’s “common prosperity” strategy, the bank took the initiative in developing its mega wealth business. By the end of 2021, its 730 million individual client base had accumulate assets under management (AUM) worth $2.25 trillion (RMB15 trillion), registering a $210 billion (RMB1.4 trillion) increase from 2020, and ranked first among the big four banks.
