Tony Chew

On 1st May 2011, Tony was appointed to a newly created role as Director (Specialist Advisor) for information technology security and risk management at MAS. He joined MAS in 1999 to head up the Technology Risk Supervision Division. His responsibilities included the development of strategies, programmes, standards and guidelines for the purpose of regulating and supervising financial institutions in respect of technology risk management requirements and information security processes. He managed and led a team of technology risk specialists who conducted onsite inspections and offsite reviews to monitor the risk management capabilities and the effectiveness of information systems security practices prevailing in the financial sector.

He began his professional career as a Chartered Accountant in Australia, specialising in financial accounting, computer auditing and information systems consulting. He had also held senior management positions in the banking industry and private sector. Chew is actively engaged in conducting workshop sessions and speaking at seminars on banking systems security and technology risk management in America, AsiaPacific and Europe. Chew is also a regular keynote speaker at international conferences and global forums.

Philip Winckle
Senior Adviser to the Chief Risk Officer
Skandinaviska Enskilda Bank

Philip Winckle is slated to take the post of Executive Director for PECDC, an organization he has been instrumental in making a reality. The PECDC is a cooperative banking association that collects and shares credit default data. He is currently Senior Adviser to the Chief Risk Officer at Skandinaviska Enskilda Bank, joining the bank in 2003. He set up of the Group Risk Control Department for Skandinaviska Enskilda Bank in Sweden in 2007 and achieved Basel II advanced IRB certification for SEB in 2011. His 30 year career in banking has seen him in various credit and risk roles across Australia, Asia and Europe, notably including workout roles in the Australian property disaster in the early 1990s and the Asian financial crisis of 1997-2000.

Vice Provost (Research) and Dean, School of Information Systems Singapore Management University (SMU)

Steven Miller is the founding dean of the School of Information Systems (SIS) at Singapore Management University (SMU) and also serves as executive steering committee member of Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC). He is SMU’s Executive Champion for building Analytics for Business, Consumer and Social Insight into a globally recognized, university-wide Area of Excellence. Previously Dr Miller held senior positions in technology, management and consulting with Fujitsu Ltd in both Japan and the US; RWD Technologies in the US; and IBM Global Services

Oliver Chen
Deputy Director of Education and Industry Outreach, National University (NUS) of Singapore’s Risk Management Institute (RMI)

Dr Oliver Chen is currently the Deputy Director of Education and Industry Outreach at the National University (NUS) of Singapore’s Risk Management Institute (RMI) since 2005. He is also the deputy lead of the Credit Research Initiative (CRI) at RMI, a large scale project that is driving research and development in the critical area of credit risk. The CRI is a unique research project whose objectives include to advance the state-of-the-art in credit risk analytics and to disseminate assessments of credit quality for exchange-listed firms around the globe on a timely basis and free of charge. It also focuses on an operational component with daily updated probabilities of default for nearly 30,000 exchange-listed companies from around the world.

Scott Thiel is the Foreign Legal Consultant of DLA Piper (Hong Kong) since 2011. He is also location head of the Intellectual Property, and Technology team. Scott specializes in the areas of outsourcing and complex technology transactions, advising both users and suppliers of IT, outsourcing services and in relation to all aspects of the procurement process. Scott advises clients across a range of sectors including technology, banking, transport, energy and sport. Scott is identified as a leading IT and outsourcing lawyer by all of the leading legal directories, including the Legal 500 and Chambers.

Álvaro Morón is currently innovation manager at BBVA, discovering and anticipating new global trends, setting up agreements with leading institutions and innovators around the world supporting the development of innovation projects. He joined the Innovation team at BBVA from Microsoft Corporation USA, where he was leading the business, marketing and strategy for Cloud Services, for the Latin America region.

Michael Finegold
Assistant Professor Carnegie Mellon University

Michael Finegold is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at Carnegie Mellon University and is posted for one year at the Living Analytics Research Centre.  His research is focused on modelling consumer preferences and inferring latent network structures.  At LARC he is working on experimental design and analysis for social networks in online communities, telecommunications, and entertainment services. He has worked as a management consultant in the US, UK, and Hong Kong for several years.

Eric Sandosham
Managing Director & Head of Asia Pacific Decision Management

Eric Sandosham has been Managing Director and Head of Citibank’s Decision Management function for Asia Pacific since May 2010 and oversees a team of 300 people embedded across 14 countries. Prior to that, he was the South-East Asia and Singapore head of the function.

In 2004, he assumed the reigns of his prior business analytics unit, and transformed it into the current Decision Management function. By 2008, he was appointed as the South-East Asia head of the function. A Citibanker since 1995, Sandosham has spent much of his time shaping and honing the analytics function into its current leadership position. His first four years at Citibank were in marketing, then moving on to set up the Retail Analytics function where he spearheaded the discipline of sales incentive modeling and analysis.

Zainal Adnan Zakaria is the Regional Head of Compliance at Maybank Kim Eng.  His areas of coverage include global wholesale banking, investment banking, equity broking and equity/commodity derivatives.

Prior to this, he spent 12 years at JPMorgan as Country Head of Compliance and was responsible for all compliance functions in Malaysia. He was also a Director at JPMorgan Securities (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd,

Zainal has more than 17 years of compliance/regulatory experience in various financial and capital market sectors.

Mark has crafted a comprehensive career in the reference data space over the last 10 years, being one of the few people in the industry who has gained reference data experience from the Data Vendor (Reuters), Information Technology architecture and delivery (Macquarie Securities), strategic change and governance (Credit Suisse) and BAU Operations (ANZ) contexts.  Mark is equally at home engaging all levels of discussion on the subject matter; from granular aspects such as data field mapping to broader industry-wide strategic challenges like LEI.

Amit Punjabi is one of team member responsible for the Customer Experience Management System implementation at Standard Chartered Bank. Punjabi studied Chartered Accountancy at the Institute of Chartered Accountants, India. He joined Standard Chartered Bank in 2001, as an Auditor. He is an expert in implementing retail banking front end solutions and enhancing productivity, with experience in audit, operations, product management, project implementation and system development. In addition to his CEMS responsibilities, Punjabi is leading customer’s service requests initiative automation efforts. His team develops methodologies to achieve Straight Through Processing, reducing turnaround time and improving operational process.

Yorgos Moschovis is currently head of business intelligence and analytics for SingTel’s consumer marketing division. He has had a hand in all aspects of direct and analytical marketing for more than 20 years. From modelling and data mining to campaign management and optimisation, his role in both consulting and line management span 5 different industries over 8 countries. Prior to SingTel, Moschovis was at OCBC as vice president of regional analytics development, a function that aimed at spreading the use of analytics to other OCBC geographies and Great Eastern. Before that, he was with Unica and had provided CRM advice for companies such as Siam Commercial Bank, AmBank, HDFC Bank, AXA, China Mobile, Digi, Vodafone, and AIS.

Mike Sherman currently leads the use and integration of customer data and market research data to help SingTel’s newly formed Group Digital Life Division develop and market new digital products.  His team works to help create personalized and relevant product and service experiences through R&D on new data and new data sources. In the past, he spent 17 years with McKinsey doing marketing consulting, based in New York and Hong Kong. Mike was also Global Head of Knowledge Management for Synovate where he led efforts to improve the value clients obtain from research. Sherman began his career at Procter & Gamble where he managed both new and established brands.

Prior to this, Shantanu served as Business Unit Executive - Business Analytics Software at IBM (ASEAN). He joined IBM through its acquisition of Cognos where he spent 8 years in various sales management roles based out of Singapore and Hong Kong. He had previously worked at Hyperion Solutions, Reuters and Ramco Systems.
