Interview transcript: Nadeem Syed, CEO, Misys
Nadeem Syed, CEO, Misys, talks about their transformation to a software company, partners being a channel to growth, and benefits of product flexibility. April 22, 2014 | EditorialTransformation to a software company Emmanuel Daniel (ED): Since the time you have taken over as CEO of Misys, can you walk us through a few milestones that you gave yourself from the time you started. I think in Asia we saw some confusion in terms of the organization and the go-to-market capability and the way your salespeople were organized and then how you wanted to look after your core clients and so on. Nadeem Syed (NS): Misys has gone through a transformative journey in the last 21 or 22 months or so that we’ve been a private company. On June 1 of 2012, two major events happened. One was that Misys was taken private by Vista Private Equity Partners, and the second, we merged with another entity that Vista previously acquired called Turaz. Turaz was a cutout from Thomson Reuters. Thomson Reuters cutout their Kondor business unit and sold it off, and Vista picked it up. It was a very synergistic move, the merging of Misys and Kondor together. We became the new Misys on June 1 of 2012, and that was coincidentally the start of our fiscal year as well. So in terms of the breadth of the products, the capabilities we have, the compliment of the two companies was just phenomenal. We’ve gone through a fairly concentrated journey in terms of changing our DNA to become a software company. In my mind, in order for us to do our job effectively it’s about creating solutions that create incredible and tremendous value for customers, clear the solutions in a manner that they are easily deployable. They’re easy to maintain, and they’re easy to upgrade as you go from version to version. You need a holistic view on where the market is going, where the customers feel the pain points and what technology can we bring to there to enable that next generation aspect of our solutions.
