SMBC Group and Citi to start new Global Support program for retail customers

5 min read

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. (SMBC Group), SMBC Trust Bank and SMBC have entered into an agreement with Citibank N.A., a wholly owned subsidiary of Citigroup. This agreement expands services to SMBC Trust Bank customers with a Global Support program for customers relocating and travelling overseas in markets where Citi has a retail banking presence.

The services made available through the Global Support program are:

       1. Referrals for relocating customers

For customers relocating from Japan to the United States, the banks have agreed to help customers find US Citibank branch locations for service in Japanese. For relocating PRESTIA Gold customers, SMBC Trust Bank can help arrange an appointment with a Citigold relationship manager in the US.

Citibank can help its US Citigold customers moving to Japan with similar assistance. Citigold is a comprehensive wealth management, banking and investments offering of Citi for qualifying clients.

       2. No Citi ATM surcharge fee

When SMBC Trust Bank customers withdraw cash with GLOBAL PASS, a multi-currency Visa debit-combined cash card, they can use participating Citi ATMs in 17 countries and jurisdictions (United States, Mexico, United Kingdom, Russia, Poland, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, India, UAE, Bahrain) without a surcharge fee.

        3. Citigold Lounge access

PRESTIA Gold customers have access to Citigold lounges in seven cities (New York, Miami, San Francisco, London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai).

Launch of services will be on Monday, December 2, 2019. In addition to the launch of the Global Support program, Citi, SMBC and SMBC Trust Bank are exploring ways to work together to benefit global retail wealth management customers.
