London, September 13th 2013 - Wells Fargo Securities, the capital markets and investment banking business of Wells Fargo & Company, today announced that Robert J. Fernandez joins as head of the International Debt Capital Markets Group based in London. He succeeds Bryant Owens who returns to the U.S. to expand coverage of depository institutions within Investment Banking and Capital Markets' Financial Institutions Group. Fernandez is reporting to William Ingram, head of the High Grade Debt Capital Markets Group.
"Robert brings over 25 years of international investment banking experience to continue the work Bryant began almost a decade ago, offering our clients access to the international debt capital markets and providing them with deep industry knowledge and trusted advice," said Ingram. "We look forward to working with Robert on continuing the success we've had on our international debt capital markets platform."
Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Fernandez led the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa region debt capital markets team for BNP Paribas, based in London. Prior to that, he led the cross-border and domestic debt origination team in Africa for Standard Bank. He began his career in investment banking with JP Morgan, where he spent 22 years in increasingly senior positions covering clients across sectors in emerging markets. Fernandez graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and earned his Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.
Wells Fargo also serves corporate, commercial and financial institution customers across the Asia Pacific region through its primary business lines such as Global Financial Institutions, Global Banking, Global Transaction Banking, International Trade Services, Capital Finance, Global Fund Services, Asset Management and Securities.
