Ripple appoints Kelvin Lee as Head of Southeast Asia Operations

Ripple, the enterprise blockchain solution for global payments, has appointed Kelvin Lee as Head of Southeast Asia. Based in Singapore, Kelvin will oversee the expansion of Ripple across the region, and spearhead efforts to drive the growth of Ripple’s customer base by leveraging his vast experience in the banking and finance sectors.

“I’m excited to be working with Ripple to revolutionise the market for cross-border payments. We want to enable money to flow across borders as quickly as data does, by empowering players in the remittance and money transfer market,” said Kelvin Lee, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Ripple. “Singapore is a fintech hub that has both forwardlooking regulations and a welcoming business environment. From here, Ripple’s payments solutions will be able to reach not only to financial institutions in the country, but also those that operate in Asia-Pacific at large.”

Previously holding senior executive positions at companies including Mastercard, Visa, and FIS, Kelvin joins the team as a seasoned leader in the financial services technology industry. With over 18 years of leadership across Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, and Africa, he brings extensive knowledge in financial payments (B2B, B2C, C2B, P2P and national payment networks), fraud & risk management, data solutions and online mobile banking solutions.

Asia-Pacific is an increasingly important market for Ripple, with more than half of the company’s customers hailing from the region. These include industry players such as Siam Commercial Bank in Thailand, CIMB in Malaysia, and Nium, formerly known as InstaReM in Singapore. Kelvin’s appointment highlights Ripple’s commitment to the Asia-Pacific market, where Ripple’s momentum is rapidly increasing.
