Rabobank International offers new capital structuring service for food and agribusiness clients
Jun 07, 2013

Hong Kong, June 6th 2013 - Rabobank International today announced it is establishing a new capital structuring service team, acting as a catalyst between the product units to find tailor made solutions for its Food and Agribusiness (F&A) clients in Asia.

The capital structuring service will provide large corporate F&A and Trade and Commodity clients with a product neutral approach to optimise their balance sheets.

Rabobank’s decision to establish a dedicated team in Asia to provide capital structuring advice follows the success of its capital structuring service in Europe.

Rabobank appointed Regional Head Loan Products Group Asia, Stefan Behrens, to set up the team in Asia and to coordinate this activity globally.

Mr Behrens joins the Hong Kong branch from Rabobank Group in Europe, where he set up the capital structuring service for European clients in 2008. In Hong Kong he will be supported by a senior analyst who will work with senior bankers across the region to provide this service to clients.

Mr Behrens said Asia is the perfect market to launch this service.

“In this region, corporate expansion and merger and acquisition activity remains strong – a stark contrast to Europe where the economic environment is causing corporates to be more cautious in their growth ambitions.”

“Our team will support our clients by conducting in-depth analysis on complex financial issues and presenting their conclusions and advice to our clients,” said Mr Behrens.

Rabobank International Asia CEO, Jeroen Nijsen, added: “Stefan brings a wealth of experience in capital structuring and we are pleased to welcome him to our Asian business.

“Rabobank is committed to partnering with customers to provide finance solutions along the whole agribusiness supply chain. This new capital structuring capability is an important component of our pan-Asia service offering for clients – and will help food and agribusiness customers to mitigate risk and find opportunities to grow.

“The new capital structuring capability is part of Rabobank’s strategy to develop new ways to add greater value for our F&A clients by leveraging our deep F&A knowledge and expertise along the food supply chain,” he said.

Mr Behrens and a team of senior analysts will work closely with Rabobank’s Senior relationship Bankers, product groups and its Food & Agribusiness Research team.
