Neal Kerr appointed as Senior Vice President and Head of Scotia Global Asset Management in Canada

Scotia Global Asset Management announced the appointment of a number of seasoned professionals across its business, effective 4 March 2019.

Neal Kerr has been appointed to the role of Senior Vice President and Head of Scotia Global Asset Management (Scotia GAM) in Canada. He will report to Glen Gowland, Executive Vice President and Head, Global Wealth Management, Scotiabank.

The Fixed Income team at 1832 Asset Management L.P. (manager of Dynamic Funds and ScotiaFunds) – which consists of 26 investment professionals managing more than $40 billion in assets – is further expanding with the appointment of two senior investment professionals. Derek Amery has joined as Vice-President & Senior Portfolio Manager and Rose Devli has joined as Portfolio Manager.

Mr. Kerr has over 20 years of broad financial industry experience, uniquely suited to Scotia Global Asset Management. This experience includes: oversight of a sizable investment management team, proven product management and development expertise, and development of a multi-brand, multi-platform distribution network. Mr. Kerr joins Scotia Global Asset Management from a large Canadian asset management firm, where he was Executive Vice President. The appointment of Mr. Kerr also adds depth and experience to Scotiabank's Global Wealth Management leadership team.

Mr. Amery is a seasoned portfolio manager, bringing more than 20 years of investment industry experience to 1832 Asset Management's Fixed Income team. Before joining 1832 Asset Management, Mr. Amery spent 16 years as the Head of Canadian Fixed Income at a global financial institution and was directly responsible for more than $6 billion in assets.

Ms. Devli joins 1832 Asset Management from a leading Canadian financial institution, where she was Vice President and Portfolio Manager, Fixed Income for the past five years. Ms. Devli was part of a team who oversaw global fixed income assets across a range of strategies.
