MoneyGram and DBS Bank Singapore recently launched an SMS-based remittance service - jolly app - which enables the bank's customers to send money to Bangladesh from Singapore with a few clicks.

The bank's customers now can transfer money directly from their bank account via the SMS banking widget.

Transfers can be picked up in cash at over 8,000 MoneyGram locations across Bangladesh, the money transfer and payment services provider said in a statement .

MoneyGram and DBS collaborate to come to the benefit of migrant communities looking for a reliable way to stay financially connected with their families.

It is a part of the joint commitments to provide digital, convenient money transfer options for expatriates working in Singapore, the statement added.

The app is supported in five languages - Tamil, Bangla, Bahasa Indonesia, Chinese and English.

“We are delighted to partner with the bank to drive financial inclusion in the region. The new digital channel enables us to reach a greater customer base with a simple solution that can be operated on a basic feature phone,” said Yogesh Sangle, MoneyGram's head of APAC, Middle East and South Asia.

“I hope that our customers will appreciate the convenience of this self-service remittance channel,” he added.
