ING appoints Eddy Henning as head of corporate client coverage, transaction services and corporate finance in Asia

5 min read

ING announced the appointment of Eddy Henning as Head of Corporate Client Coverage, Transaction Services and Corporate Finance Asia as of 1 January 2018. Eddy succeeds Manuel R. Salak III (Manolet), who retired in July 2017 after serving ING for 23 years.

Veteran corporate banker Eddy Henning joins ING after 28 years at Deutsche Bank. During his time at Deutsche, he held several positions, most recently as APAC Head of MNC Coverage in Singapore where he was responsible for corporate clients in the Asia Pacific region across 14 countries.

From April 2007 to February 2013, he was Head of Corporate Banking Coverage in China, where he was also a member of the Corporate Banking Coverage Executive Committee for Asia. Eddy is a Board member of the Singapore-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. He has also held regional management positions across Deutsche Bank’s German businesses, including as Managing Director, Regional Head of German Large Corporates West based in Cologne.

In his new role at ING, Eddy will provide senior banker coverage for Asian corporate clients and MNCs in ING’s Asian offices, and will also help to grow ING’s outbound activities to Europe. He will also be responsible for Capital Structuring & Advisory Asia.

His appointment comes as ING looks to expand its operations in China, increasing coverage in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing. China, where ING has had operations for over 30 years, represents a key growth pillar for ING. Eddy will report to Gerrit Stoelinga, CEO of ING Wholesale Banking in Asia.

Gerrit Stoelinga said: “Eddy brings a wealth of experience of working with corporate clients globally, including those in Germany, China and more broadly across Asia Pacific, and we’re very excited to have him join us to drive ING’s push into increased corporate coverage across Asia. His in-depth knowledge of the region, and strong track record of running teams and client relationships will be instrumental as we look to grow our Asia business.”
