June 20th 2013 - The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) announced today the selection of Ms Gail Verley to succeed Mr Carlos Isoard as Secretary General of IADI, effective 01 October 2013 for a three-year term.
During the past six years Ms Verley has been actively engaged in the mission and objectives of IADI, serving as a key advisor to the Chairperson of the IADI Training and Conference Committee, and as Chairperson for the Data and Survey Committee, as well as the Chairperson for the Research and Guidance Subcommittee addressing “Recoveries from Failed Bank Assets".
Ms Verley’s current Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) responsibilities include strategic, business and operational matters for the Office of International Affairs (OIA). Throughout her FDIC tenure she has led and managed diverse staff and business functions, including the overall operations for the Division of Insurance, governance of the FDIC Information Technology strategic planning and capital investment, as well as management of the resolution and receivership activities for over 200 failed banks and savings associations across the United States.
Ms Verley has gained expert knowledge in the bank regulatory framework and she has consulted with deposit insurance organizations globally on topics related to bank resolution, deposit reimbursement and asset recovery.
Jerzy Pruski, President and Chair of the Executive Council of IADI, noted in his announcement to the Membership, “We are confident Ms Verley’s thirty years with the FDIC and her role with IADI provide her with an excellent background for the position and that Ms Verley will be an outstanding Secretary General and will work effectively to strengthen IADI’s operations and advance the objectives of our Association.”
