Hong Kong, November 9th 2012 – Bank of America Merrill Lynch has today announced Simon Lucocq as head of Technology and Operations in the Asia Pacific region. Lucocq will report to Bill Pappas, chief information officer for Global Wholesale Banking, and will join the extended leadership team of Cathy Bessant, Global Technology and Operations executive. In addition, he will have regional accountability to Matthew Koder, president of Asia Pacific, and will serve on the Asia Pacific executive committee. He will be based in Hong Kong.
“Simon is a critical addition to the company as we continue to grow our business in the Asia Pacific markets,” said Koder. “Technology and operations are the backbone of our businesses. As we continue to advance our technological capabilities we will be able to further enhance our business offerings and provide an even better service to our clients.”
Lucocq will have end-to-end responsibility for technology and operations in the region and will further the development and delivery of an integrated, regional technology and operations strategy and governance model
Lucocq joins Bank of America Merrill Lynch from Nomura, where, for the past four years, he served as global chief information officer. Prior to this, he was chief information officer in Asia Pacific for Lehman Brothers, based in Tokyo. Lucocq has more than 30 years of information technology strategy and relationship management experience in the European and Asian financial services markets.
“Simon’s years as a CIO across a wide range of financial services businesses and geographies will be very beneficial as we continue to enhance our regional operating model,” said Bessant. “Leveraging our talented technology and operations teams in Asia, he will continue to strengthen our platform’s capabilities and performance in support of global and regional clients.”
Lucocq succeeds Dennis Arnum, who retires from Bank of America Merrill Lynch after a 37-year career at the company.
