BoC HK launches microfinance scheme

December 28th 2012 - Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited ("BOCHK") today announced the launch of the Microfinance Scheme, providing assistance to people who wish to start their own businesses, become self-employed or achieve self-enhancement through training, skills upgrading or obtaining professional qualifications.

The Scheme is introduced by the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited ("HKMC") in collaboration with banks and non-governmental organisations. Under the Scheme, Micro-Business Start-up Loan, Self-employment Loan and Self-enhancement Loan are offered. In addition, supporting services, including mentorship and entrepreneurial training to business starters and self-employed persons, are provided on a need basis to enhance their business performances and help them resolve problems in the daily business operations.
