BNM and Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam sign MoU on mutual cooperation

April 3rd 2013 - Bank Negara Malaysia and Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam today entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a collaborative framework towards enhancing mutual cooperation in the development of the financial services sector. The MoU builds upon the Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the Government of Malaysia and the Government of Brunei Darussalam, signed on 2 September 2012.

The MoU encapsulates arrangements relating to cross-border banking supervision, exchange of information, cooperation in capacity building and human capital development between the two central banks, as well as development in the area of Islamic finance.

The MoU that signifies another milestone in economic and financial linkages between the two countries was signed by Dr. Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia and Dato Mohd Rosli Sabtu, Managing Director of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.
