Azentus Capital chooses Advent Software's alternatives solutions
Feb 27, 2013

Hong Kong/ San Francisco, February 25th 2013 - Advent Software, Inc., a leading provider of software and services for the global investment management industry, today announced that Azentus Capital Management Ltd., a global, multi-asset, multi-strategy hedge fund based in Hong Kong, is Advent’s first client in the Asia Pacific region to implement both the Geneva® and Tamale RMS® platforms for the alternatives market.

After the fund’s launch, Azentus looked for an advanced portfolio management platform that could manage large volumes of complex data from multiple sources. With a significant implementation and quick turnaround time, they selected Advent to support their business needs.

Azentus chose Advent’s Geneva®, a global portfolio management, reporting, and reconciliation system, which has been specifically designed for complex, global alternative investment strategies. Advent’s Tamale RMS® (research management solution) was then selected to help automate and streamline the research and decision making processes.

According to Bryan Messer, Chief Technology Officer at Azentus Capital, the decision to choose Advent hinged on the company’s ability to successfully implement an order management and risk management system with Geneva® at the same time. The ability to deliver on-site service for the platform’s implementation and to meet Azentus’ quick turnaround time was also a key consideration. “We had an aggressive timescale to get everything ready,” says Mr. Messer. “We started the implementation in January with the goal of launching on the first of April, and we were able to implement and integrate the systems on time.”

The Geneva® global portfolio management solution has proven to be a success, helping to integrate data from many different sources. “It gives us confidence in the quality of our data,” explains Mr. Messer. “It’s also given us confidence in our systems internally, because we’re reconciling three different systems and we know they are all in synch.”

Azentus chose Tamale RMS® to help gather and process information from a multitude of sources — at the company level, the industry level, and regional level— even looking at macro trends or themes. “An investment decision is based on a whole set of data in different forms, coming in at different times from different sources.” Mr. Messer adds. “Tamale allows you to capture all the pieces of data and view them side by side, as well as historically.”

“We are pleased to work with an industry-leading hedge fund in Hong Kong,” said Chris Momsen, Executive Vice President, Sales and Solutions Management at Advent. “Being selected by Azentus is a testament to the flexibility and capability of our solutions for global alternative investments. Our mission has always been to deliver solutions that allow our clients to thrive, and we’re working diligently to remove boundaries between systems and information making it easier for our clients to get the information they need to be great for their clients.”

Mr. Messer concludes that, when the time came to make a decision, they weren’t just buying the Advent® platforms, but the entire company, its people and what they offered for the long term. “I think Advent has two great things. Advent’s systems are very good. But I also like dealing with Advent as a company and its culture that focuses on understanding our requirements. We’ve had great support locally. And that’s very important, because you’re not just buying a product, you’re buying a relationship.”
