Global Transaction Finance Re-Invented
The dynamics of global trade finance, correspondent banking, cross-border & seamless payments, and liquidity management are all in a state of evolution as the race towards digitisation continues to rage across the entire field. Customers, both corporate and retail, are taking charge of their own cross-border transactional needs.
Being able to provide users the quickest, most seamless, transparent, cheapest and reliable way to transaction cross-border is essential to staying competitive. Your competitors are not just other global banks, but also a growing number of third-party service providers. Furthermore, competition with non-banking institutions promises to become more forceful, as the second Payment Services Directive (PSD2) and new open-banking regulations coming to us from the more developed economies.
The ‘Global Transaction Finance re-invented’ conference, part of the Future of Finance Summit, provides a platform for a dialogue between experts from global banks, alternative players, regulatory organisations and new technology providers to discuss the latest trends and offer best practice solutions to stay ahead of the curve.

Rethinking the world of collaboration, APIs and GITS – it is about them, not us
Have traditional banks been overly cautious about the way they on-board Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Many banks are still at the stage of on boarding closed APIs, often to resolve problems within the institution. But API technology is progressing very quickly and requires a fundamental mental shift for traditional institution to finally recognise that the data outside the institution is far more valuable than that within the institution. Also, it forces the topic – are we losing sight of collaboration.

Redefining “emerging markets” in correspondent banking
As global banks have been cutting operations to comply with regulations aimed to avoid money-laundering and terrorism-financing, there have been reduced correspondent banking relationships (CBRs) with local banks in emerging economies, since CBRs are considered to be a low-margin but high-risk activity. If the cost of CBRs could be decreased somehow, or if risk can be minimized through effective anti-money laundering (AML) regulations, CBRs would be smart business line for global banks.
In this session we will discuss how to limit the de-risking and its impact on financial systems and remittances?
- Improving communication between correspondent and respondent banks
- Developing regulatory inaccuracy of MTOs’ obligations toward AML/CFT
- Advanced technologies provide solutions for de-risking by improving transaction monitoring
- Banks in emerging economies adopting protocols to include de-risking and attract global banks investments.
