This week’s retail banking news includes Maybank’s MasterCard smartcard, Citibank’s flagship China outlet, and POSB’s new head.

Maybank introduces MasterCard Prepaid University Smart Card
Maybank has partnered with Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) and MasterCard to introduce the MasterCard Prepaid University Smart Card for LUCT employees and students. The smartcard combines the staff or student’s ID with MasterCard’s EMV payment facility for retail and cash transactions. It can also function as a prepaid card with monetary value.  

Citibank opens China flagship outlet and first Citigold Private Client Centre
Citibank has opened its China flagship outlet in Shanghai, which Citi China’s first Citigold Private Client Centre. The flagship outlet offers Consumer Banking, as well as commercial banking services. Customers will enjoy a full range of services including savings, deposits, investments insurance, ATM / debit cards, as well as credit card, mortgage and unsecured loans.

Derrick Goh appointed DBS head of POSB
DBS has named Derrick Goh as the new head of POSB, effective 1 October 2012. He succeeds Koh Kar Siong who will accept the position of regional head of DBS Treasures. As head of POSB, which is part of the DBS consumer banking group, he will provide leadership in further developing and growing the bank. Goh joined DBS in 2008 and is currently the COO for institutional banking group.
